As a part of our commitment to saving Bogalusa, we believe that preserving our natural environment is critical. In honor of Earth Day, we participated in a few eco-friendly activities around town. Our First Fundraiser

Fish Fry Fundraiser Thanks to all of our volunteers and customers who helped make our first fundraiser a huge success. We served over 100 fish fry plates to residents and friends of Bogalusa, surpassing our fundraising goal for this event and raising money for the Home & Lawn Makeovers we will perform as a part of National Join Hands Day on May 4th. Teaming Up- The United Way of Southeast Louisiana

We are thrilled to announce that the United Way of Southeast Louisiana has pledged their support for Save Bogalusa’s participation in National Join Hands Day on May 4th! In their letter of support, they state that: “United Way supports opportunities that promote local volunteer engagement and focus on helping families in need. Save Bogalusa is an organization dedicated to community revitalization and enrichment in Bogalusa, Louisiana and we recognize the positive benefits of working together on National Join Hands Day.” We look forward to working with them on this project, and many more to come! Learning with Kids and Community Partners

Save Bogalusa spent an educational morning at Franklinton Elementary School with our community partner, Keep Washington Parish Beautiful (KWPB), along with representatives from the Choctaw Landfill and the LSU Agricultural Center. They talked to two hundred fifth graders about the importance of preserving our community’s natural environment, especially by properly disposing of garbage to prevent pollution in our waterways. Save Bogalusa helps Keep Washington Parish Beautiful

Save Bogalusa participated in the Great American Cleanup sponsored by Keep Washington Parish Beautiful. Thanks to all of our volunteers who helped by picking up trash along the Pearl River and at the Riverside Drive Boat Landing. We collected over 15 bags of trash, preventing over 60 cubic feet of litter from clogging our waterways and polluting our beautiful Bogalusa. Project Bogalusa is jumping in and getting their hands dirty!

On May 4th, Project: Save Bogalusa will take part in the National Join Hands Day of local volunteer activism by providing two Bogalusa residents with a property makeover for their home or business. Join Hands Day is an opportunity for youth and adults to work together improving their communities while enriching their own civic pride.
