Save Bogalusa assists in flood disaster relief

Save Bogalusa has set up a disaster relief tent at the Pine Tree Plaza in Bogalusa to assist disaster victims affected by the storm.  At this time, Save Bogalusa will be acting as a resource center where residents can get information regarding what actions they need to take to get the proper assistance.  Volunteers of Save Bogalusa spent today handing out garbage bags, water, and cleaning supplies, while taking down contact information from residents and signing up volunteers.

Senator Mizell explained the importance of making sure that all damages are reported to ensure proper funding through FEMA. It is imperative that ALL damage is documented before the clean-up efforts can begin.  As part of our effort, Project Save Bogalusa has agreed to begin photographing and submiting damages for any resident that needs help with this. All damages MUST be reported to the Emergy Operations Center (EOC).

We will be set up again tomorrow at the Disaster Relief tent at 400 Georgia Ave in the Pine Tree Plaza. Please come support our cause and get all the information you need to get disaster relief. Remember first and foremost that you should take photos of your damage before any clean-up. MOST IMPORTANTLY, you must submit your damages to the Emergency Operation Center, even if your not asking for support, and even if you are not insured, please turn this information into EOC.  Project Save Bogalusa volunteers can assist you with this. If you don’t know how to do it, we will help you. We will also have important information about resources available to you and how to contact those resources, such as the EOC, FEMA, And Red Cross.  We are communicating with other agencies and will be able to guide you depending on your need.  YMCA has teamed up with us to collect clothing and non-perishable food items. They can be dropped off at the YMCA on Ave B. Bring any cleaning supply donations or tax exempt monetary donations to the tent tomorrow.  We hope you can volunteer!

T-shirts orders can be emailed to SaveBogalusa@bellsouth.net with contact information and shirt size. If you need the shirt shipped to you add $5 and include your mailing address in the email. I will respond with payment options. We absolutely need volunteers. If you volunteer, the T-shirt is FREE!

This parish is hurting folks. We were told today that more than 400 families have lost EVERYTHING. Many families reached out to us today in tears.
