Executive Director of Bogalusa Rebirth

Wendy founded Bogalusa Rebirth, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, in 2007 and worked for more than eleven years as volunteer leader until July 2018 when she converted to part-time paid employee. In 2020 she became a full-time employee. She holds an associates in applied science degree from Pearl River Community College. She has worked as a licensed Louisiana real estate agent. She currently serves as a Field Representative with the U.S. Census Bureau since 2013 conducting The American Community Survey, a housing and population survey. Acting as the President of ZOBAY Properties, LLC she has developed and rehabilitated Bogalusa properties for both sale and rentals.

As Executive Director of Bogalusa Rebirth, her duties include managing the office staff, to include an executive assistant/homebuyer coordinator. She reports to a six-member Board of Directors. Board meetings are held quarterly. The Executive Director prepares agendas, financial reports, updates on projects, and items for discussion and approval.

The Executive Director has attended HUD funding development courses provided by Louisiana Housing Corporation. This training led to the organization being as a certified Louisiana CHDO.

The Executive Director is now experience in applying for CHDO HOME funds allocations. As a result, Bogalusa Rebirth has received commitments of allocations of HOME funds from The Louisiana Housing Corporation totaling $1,400,000.00. Her experience extends to managing HUD projects, reporting progress, submitted disbursement requests, grant record keeping.

In addition to receiving HOME funds awards, the executive director has experience with grants including Enterprise Community Partners Capacity Building grant, LHC Operating Grant, LISC pre-development grant funding, and Capital One Home Buyer Assistance Fund, Housing Assistance Council Veterans Grant, and Wells Fargo Homeownership Foundation Counseling grants.

The Executive Director along with the Executive Assistant/Homebuyer Coordinator is currently attending online training classes to become a HUD certified counseling agency.
