The result is that property values rise and the neighborhood is transformed! Fighting blight is a community effort. The City of Bogalusa code enforcement office condemns unsafe structures. Properties with unpaid taxes are adjudicated to the City.

The Montgomery street sites were two infill overgrown lots and the project was primarily funded by an Enterprise Community Partners recoverable grant and Louisiana HOME funds. This project included the eradication of an incurable blighted structure and represented the first two Bogalusa Rebirth HOME assisted homeownership units.

The Main Street Development in the Richardsontown neighborhood began with the demolition of a blighted structure funded by a grant from International Paper Foundation. Construction of two single-family homeownership units will be completed through a partnership with Bogalusa Rebirth and The West 30’s Redemption Company. Interim construction financing is being provided by Hancock Whitney Bank.
